Ta Pal!

Text message;

"You in the office?" (that's what we call the pub!)Paul.

"Is the pope a paedo?" Me.

This is very close to closing time.

Paul arrives, just to give me a lift home.

Big fat hairy plumber.

I don't have many friends.

But I have good friends.

  1. Sorry Paul, you're not that fat, or hairy. But you are my fovourite plumber! Even if you are THE loudest snorer! :¬)

  2. And being a polite southern girl, I won't even ASK how you know about the snoring. ;)

Glad you're out and about..you've been awfully quiet.

  5. Pon; I know some peeps who 'collect' friends, the more the merrier? I like my friends to be peeps I actually have a fondness for? They may not number in the hundreds, but they count in my heart! :¬)

  6. He's a good friend, alright, that Paul. Yep, I'd keep that one--it's not easy to find a decent plumber. ;)

  7. Actually, now I think of it, he Is fat (well maybe just 'big'!)& hairy! And still one of my oldest, and best friends! And one of the funniest guys (though a lot of people think he is DOWN & DARK!) I have ever known, maybe that's 'cos we both have that dark sense of humour in common? :¬)

  9. there's a psychological personality test that asks such a question - for example: would you rather have a lot of shrubbery around your home or a few big trees? - meant to extricate from one whether one prefers a few good friends or a lot of casual acquaintances - now, i'm not really sure why such a round about way has to be used to extract this information - but in any event, i'm with you map - i always have preferred the trees! ;)

hugs, dear sir! wonderful to see you about here!

  11. You know a plumber? I'm in awe, and just a little startstruck.

They are rare beings round here, difficult to find and more expensive than lawyers

  13. It seemed the older I got the fewer friends I had. But the ones that lingered were keepers. But I don't know any plumbers. Kim is right. They're a rare breed. Most of my friends are pencil-pushers. Like myself.

  14. So that's what my life is missing. A big fat hairy plumber to drive me home from the pub.

  18. Kim; Paul is our fav plumber, but I am also a good friend of Jonathan, another plumber and one fantastic guitar player/singer! Paul fitted a new shower for me a couple of weeks ago and would only take money for the materials! I paid him back by having his wee daughters over for a few hours, and threw in some cans of Heineken for himself! I'm also teaching him how to cook. :¬)

Scarlet; I can just see you wrapped around a big one! :¬)

  19. UB; I was never one for 'collecting' friends, I'm a bit odd about who I like to keep company with, and was often thought of as strange because of this. But, the friends I do have, like Paul, whom I have known since about 1980 (he was the rhythym guitar player in my first band!) are honest and true and take me for the wally that I am! I would trust these people with my life. I am indeed a fortunate man. :¬)

(Hows the forehead coming along?) :¬)

Pat; I think You would get on quite well with Paul, and him with you! Have a lovely weekend! :¬)

  20. Clyde; Paul is my usual sidekick at the 'office', but on this occassion he was on his way home from dropping another friend at the airport, noticed it was near closing time, thought of me walking home in the cold and made a detour to pick me up! He's one decent chap! :¬)

Sausage; We are lucky peeps! :¬)

  25. I have a big, hairy friend who is a plumber also. Can't say he's fat, though - but being 6'3" makes for the big part. He does work just for having a home cooked meal!
