Into The West

Mr. & Mrs. Map had a  few quiet days away in the west this week.
Galway, but not the city this time, east Galway. Though we did venture into the city for some shopping. (Has to be done!)

Of course we missed the kids.

But the quietness, the big warm bedroom, the drink, the food I didn't have to cook, the friendly staff, the bar, the drink, the big warm bed in the big warm bedroom!

Of course we missed the kids.

"Any chance of putting the Celtic game on the telly?" I asked the barman.
"Telly? I think we can do better than that!" says he as he used the remote to lower the big (180'')  screen from the ceiling.

"Will that be OK for you?"

In fairness, the bar was  quiet, but said barman was really looking after us.

Mrs. Map even watched, for a while.

  3. Galway has changed a lot over the years. Where as once you could stand at the edge of the world and gaze through fog and the seagulls droppings for a tiny glimpse of the strange land of Amerikay, you now get trampled by the joggers amidst a huge concrete area known as the boardwalk.

The people are still grand, they welcome all and care not for religion or fitba. Although I will admit that I too watched Celtic win the league in style in a bar a few years back.

Tis an interesting drive across Ireland to get there though. Did yis pass by the little place where the travellers do the oul youtube sparring out in the front yard?

I'll mention no name here, too close to home if yis understand where I'm coming from... pardon the pun.

  4. I yearn for the day when the kiddies are old enough so that I can escape with Mrs. Wife -- just the two of us. Maybe to Galway! It'll be years and years until that happens but I look forward to it.

  11. It warms the heart to hear a man talk so lovingly about the company of his wife.

Ran into an old classmate once, who ask whatever happened to the guy I dated in high school. I said I married him to which she replied, "You're still on your FIRST husband?"

Yeah. I kinda like him. Thought I'd keep him for a 100 years or so. ;)
