Caledonia

Tonight I sang this song for the first time in public. Twice.
It's a song that has always been close to my heart.
A song about the homeland, where Granda Stewart came from.
I have a very strong calling to Scotland (Caledonia).
Maybe that's why I love playing the pipes, and it's my excuse for wearing a kilt!!
And my excuse for loving Glasgow, and a certain ugly heided friend!

This version of the song is sung by THE MOST Irish woman I know.
And in my opinion, she OWNS this song! The lovely Dolores Keane.

Enjoy!

  5. The RSDG did a great version of this song as well. Beautiful. How did it feel to perform it?

Also, want to feel your heart clench like its in a (strangely pleasant) vice? Look for Eddi Reader's version of Auld Lang Syne. Gets me every time.

  7. Good god man, surely all Glaswegians are not ugly? I once new a very handsome man, well if you squinted and dimmed down the lights of course. I'm sure tramlines and chib marks are very fetching in certain quarters.

Nice rendition, I shall be sure to pass along your sentiments to an old friend.

  8. cannot tell you how i love this song, map, and all that it means - and it's especially been on my mind of late - beautiful - and that you sang it!! perhaps you would be so kind as to honor us with your own video of the performance? :)

oh, and you notice the timing, do you not, sir, of the matter about which we spoke earlier? i told you i heard wings overhead just recently, did i not? ;) and so, i did - the proof is in the sentimental pudding, so to speak - and our world is a bit brighter for it! ;)

  12. PurestGreen; I felt very proud but nervous singing it the first time, but when I did it again at the end of the gig I had a blast, and most of the crowd sang along!

I have listened to Eddi singing many times on YT. And yes, that wonderful lassie gets to me every time. She really does sing from the soul! :¬)
