Killing.Me.Slowly!

'Killing me softly', what a fucking song!
I had to sing it tonight, and I swear it drained the fucking life out of me!
It made me want 'to die' in more ways than one.
It made me want to hurt many people with rusty microphones, in places where microphones were never meant to be.
WHY would a bride request this drivel for her first song with her new husband?
It's beyond me my friends!
I have yet to find a more boring, life sapping piece of shit put to music.
It just seems to go on FOREVER.
I have promised myself as a new Years gift, never to sing this piece of tripe again!
And I have never said this of any other song.

Next!

  1. Not for nothing, but that song should only be sung by a girl. And, preferably only by Roberta Flack. In small doses and at the right moment it can be nice. But, yes, a wedding seems like the wrong place.

  4. i suppose this is where one might say "different strokes for different folks" or something like that - i am often surprised [shocked] - often - at the particular songs chosen for such events -

and when i marry next, dear sir, i not only will ask you to sing my songs, i shall ask you "gently" to help me choose them....

and then there's the whole thing of you as roberta - somethin' just not jivin' there!!! unless, of course, you were wearing a black or royal purple flowing kimono and......wait, were you??? ;)

  6. Wow, someone needs to compile a list of "Songs NOT to be sung at weddings". That's the weirdest one I've heard yet!

I'd add, "Every Breath You Take", by Sting, who is STILL amused that people haven't actually listened to the words closely.

  8. I agree with you. How difficult to have to sing a song you don't like. There should be a law:)

  9. Perhaps you should make a list of your repertoire, and they can choose one from that? I can just imagine you cringing inside as you try to put some 'feeling' into a song you can't stand!

sav; That strikes me as more of a funeral song, but then again I could be wrong? As the great Jim Morrisson sang "people are strange"! :¬)
