Coffee Mates

I had an errand to do today at one of the banks at the shopping centre.  Afterwards I decided to have a wander around and bumped into my oldest and best pal Jim. He was shopping for a birthday present for his daughter to give her mother, his second ex-wife. He settled on a coffee mug.

He also showed me some beard oil he had just bought which was on sale, so I had to get some too.

We walked about for a while before deciding to go for coffee.
"I think about death every day!" he suddenly said.
"Yep, me too."
The conversation continued, and we ended up laughing so loud it drew the attention of the other customers.
Jim and meself are in contact daily.  If not in person, then with a phone call or by text. But it has been a while since we sat down in a coffee shop for a chat.
After drawing the attention of the other patrons with our loud guffaws we decided to leave. With our matching SALE bags containing our bottles of beard oil.

We drew more attention when we quite casually kissed goodbye.
Yep, we're at that age when we don't give a rat's arse what people think.

I'm drinking bourbon just now, JB will be horrified.

  1. I have no idea what beard oil is and how you would use it. Time for you to create a Youtube video :)

    1. One warms a few drops of beard oil in the palms and then rubs it into the beard. I find it works best on a still damp beard just after a shower. It really does tame a wild curly beard such as mine.

  2. Ah, happiness in a world of "WTF?!" I wish you lived around the corner...I don't drink coffee but I'd make a pot for you. (And Hubby probably has a more adult like beverage to share)

    1. I bet you make great coffee, and if Hubby's adult beverage is of the whiskey/whisky variety then we can have a lovely Irish coffee, sans cream, I'm on a diet.

  3. Always be yourself, no matter what people think! Jim is your brother from another mother and it is wonderful to have a friend that special and that close.

I have a friend who raises bees (honey) and sells the beeswax to a person who makes beard oil. I know a number of men with great beards who use oil and it is so nice to see a well groomed beard. One day I will see yours in person and get to raise a glass with you! :-)

    1. I find it's always best to be oneself, it makes for a less complicated life.
I look forward to the day we have that drink my dear friend.

  4. I have also reached an age where death is thought about often.... best to just drink favourite beverages, laugh, and just get on with it :-)

  5. I'm still trying to convince the MITM to grow a beard again, but he's not having it! He keeps blathering on about looking like Santa Claus! ;) Good on you and your pal for not caring about what others think. xoxox
