Nuacht

Just in (3AM) from a wedding in Nenagh, grand crowd and they paid in cash!
I have to say, we do have a laugh in the van (an old Transit, what else?) on the way home.

Ma is still confined in ward 3B, four weeks now, not ideal at all. The longer she's there the worse the depression, for all of us. Latest news is that she will have at least one of her procedures done by Tuesday next.  We live in hope.

Our Rob (MY Rob) arrived in the hospital today after a three day journey from Australia. Ma was so happy to see him & Emily, as was I. They are here for two weeks this trip and will be coming back next July for two months during which they will celebrate their wedding. He has asked me to stand with him at the wedding. I am overjoyed. We will all (the men) be wearing traditional Scottish dress for the wedding.

Anna is back from her sojourn in Germany.

Helena had her braces removed today.

My godfather was buried today, three months after his wife, my godmother. Farewell Georgie & Helen.

I'm having a beer to wind down, and then off to the feathers.

Oíche mhaith mo chairde, agus chodladh sámh go léir.

  1. Keep the faith my friend.

Féadfaidh an anamacha na departed teacht ar an tsíocháin agus solace go bhfuil muid go fóill a fháil ar an talamh. I aimsir ghéarchéime beidh muid mairfidh trí neart, dílseacht agus ár paisean don hÉireann.

Déan iarracht gan a dhéanamh ar aon tráidirí deochanna síos ag na cleití, eh?

    2. You should see the strange shapes I can make with it when I bend and shape it around hard skull-like objects. Pint then?

    3. I believe, given the news, you are out on me all week. Tis probably best that you let your better half know that you will not be sober until at least a week tomorrow. Me? I'd leave you in a flash for the amount of misbehaving I have planned for the weekend involving the both of us at Jinty McGinty's.

Seriously... muchas gracias, I appreciate you being there son.

A beautiful post. The slender threads of life. As always, our best to your mum.

  3. Sometimes the world seems to spin too fast. I'm sorry for your losses but glad you have to much to look forward to...I'm especially hoping for photos of that wedding attire.

Hugs for Ma, as well as good thoughts that all goes well next week. Then, when you're done taking care of everyone else, ask the lovely Missus to give you a hug from those of us who care about you. :)

  4. How about I start you off with a large bag of Tayto's, cheese & onion of course, a warm bottle of pop and then let you sit on my shoulders to watch the fireworks the neet? Remember how much you enjoy those pretty sparklers, eh?

    1. Grand so, and I promise there'll not be a repeat of what happened the last time you let me sit on your shoulders. It dried quickly enough in the sunshine though.

  5. Hugs to your Ma. Congrats to your Rob. Have a sip of something for me and make the Chef pay for it. I think he owes me a drink from ages ago. ;-)

And hugs to you on your godparents. It's always so hard as the ones you love grow old and frail.

You and Chef make me smile every time I come and read your banter. xoxoxo

  6. I'm sorry to hear about your ma. Life ain't no fun as you get older is it? For us or the loved one around us.

Nothing beats the first mouthful of an ice cold beer.
