Day At The Beach

Annette and myself took ourselves off for the day to the coast.
Sunny, but quite breezy and a little bit too chilly for a swim yet!
(Coward, I know!)
I did manage to get a 'redneck' tan though! :¬(

Of course we forgot to bring the camera, these are from the phone.

As usual, the beach was over-crowded with day-trippers!

Aaah, there's my lovely Annette, in the middle!

Can you spot the elderly couple and their dog just sitting peacefully amongst the throngs of sun-worshippers?

This is the 'Pollock Holes' in Kilkee, County Clare.

  4. Chilly or not, the beach is ALWAYS the place to be! The chill works to keeps the commoners away.

  5. There's something inspiring about standing on the shore and looking out on the ocean. Very nice.

  7. Great looking beach and a lovely lady you found there.
There is nothing like a day at the beach---mine was very wild today and the dog ani had the beach to ourselves.
I fly north to visit friends in Queensland and spend some of each day at an ocean or river beach----think I'm becoming my father.
He used to walk our dogs every day--then flew to Scotland on holidays and walked the relatives dog on the beach---it feels like home everywhere ---glad you enjoyed your day

  8. UB; It's only an hours drive away, we should do it more often. No, we WILL do it more often! Hope to get my swim in soon too! :¬)

Clyde; Hey pal, do ya think we all become our fathers eventually? Mine is gone 24 years this year, he was a true gent! (I hope I take after the Ma! She's almost 85 and still drinkin' whiskey!) :¬)

I'll hope I'll become my father barring the losing of his mind.
He was a gentle man of simple needs and a love and tollerance of all in this world.
Ma sounds delightful---I hope to meet her

  12. Whenever I'm by the sea, there's part of me that's tempted to strip off and dive in. Fortunately there's another part of me that overrules the madness.

It's an entirely different case for Maggie. I wrote about the cultural difference of visiting the seaside in a post Life's a beach a few years ago.

  15. Kim; I just read, and enjoyed that post!
Believe it or not although I've been in the sea around our coast many times, I've never had a swim in it! (Only learned to swim 5 years ago!) I have enjoyed many a swim in the Atlantic, but in the part that's off the coast of Africa! (It's a little bit warmer!) :¬)

Pearl; See, the things I do for my friends! :¬)

  16. Ah, I can feel the refreshing sea breeze from here...and I need it. Third day of 100 degree heat [38C for you, but feels like 43 for you] and no rain.

So please thank your lovely bride for sharing her day...and the thought of a cool beach to put a better end to my day.

  17. hope; Refreshing was exactly what it was, and relaxing at the same time!
I don't think Irish people could handle 38C never mind 43C! Our skin would just dissolve before our hard-boiled eyes! A constant 22C would be very nice! :¬)

  20. What a lovely looking place you have there. All it needs is an ice-cream van.

  21. Now that's my kind of crowd. ;) I also approve of your choice of location for your jaunt. I've yet to dip a toe in anything other than a lake, so have a paddle for me the next time you're at the seaside.

  22. Madame DF; It does have a winkle seller though! And they sell dillisk too! (Dried seaweed, a delicacy don't ya know!) :¬)
