I know I'm supposed to be doing this shit for me/myself?
But if you ain't listening then what's the point eh?
And I know the faithful 6 or 7 are always there, but I talk to ye 'other' places anyway yeah? So, more comments yeah or I'm gone! Seriously, I could be knitting or something! Fucksake!
You have one day.
I mean it!
Or I'm gone.
UPDATE; 24 hours later! Now! That wasn't too fucking hard was it, eh?
Is it wrong that all I crave is your undying love and ceaseless adoration?
And the odd comment or two? :¬)
(Now wasn't that fun?!)
You better not be going anywhere, you!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is STAY..... xoxoxoxo
That's the same conversation I have with myself every time I post. Don't tempt the people!
ReplyDeleteI am faithful, but can I comment anyway?
ReplyDeleteAw Map, what will we do without ye? And you're probably a crummy knitter anyways.
ReplyDeleteI'd like a new wool jumper in XL...possibly blue?
ReplyDeleteThanks Map
Not sure if I'm in the 6 or 7, but I'm here. Just attacked by a dose of killer reality, holidays and knitting needles. So, stay, we love you. We can't lose another one...
ReplyDeleteMy knitted knickers are in need of replacing. Do you think you could manage a new pair by Xmas?
ReplyDeleteGoodness!
ReplyDeleteCan I have a multi-coloured tank top, please?
Knitted products are hot this time of year.
Sx
And the hissy fit award of the day goes to ...
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, take a deep breath or two and calm yourself, Map. Obviously we all get into blogging, and stay in it, or not, for different reasons. But I don't think that comment numbers alone should ever be our primary reason for blogging. Comments have a habit of ebbing and flowing, regardless of how much or how little effort goes into posts. Many readers come and go, and the long-time regulars have things going on in their lives which can limit their computer time sometimes. Also, some of us are just quiet by nature and only speak up when we have something meaningful to say. For instance, if someone posts a photo of something they've bought, I'm probably not going to say anything if ten people ahead of me have already oohed and aahed over it. There are only so many ways to say "gorgeous" and only so many times that we need that kind of validation. Know what I mean?
Another thing that might be working against you is the fact that a lot of your posts are just music videos. Which isn't a negative thing for me as I love music, but lots of bloggers hate them and will just leave a blog without even clicking on the video.
I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that there are bazillions of reasons why you might not be getting as many comments as you want, none of which have anything to do with your value as a human being and whether or not we like you. But only you can decide whether or not blogging gives you enough of a buzz to want to continue with it. I hope that you will, obviously, but if not, hey, try and get rid of me on Facebook, dude! Ain't gonna happen!! :D
Do you think you could knit me up a scarfe for the winter mornings on the beach---
ReplyDeleteAnd I have a note for not being here--
No computer
*salutes... "sah!"
ReplyDeletebless your heart, sugar, but i looked at the time of this post...and figured, well, y'all know what i thought. ;~) i hope y'all feel better now and know that we love you, i adore you and y'alls big, loving, generous heart! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDelete(besides, i'm thinking about quitting the facebook. so, i NEED y'all here!)
I agree with what Milady said 110%.
ReplyDeleteWe've all been here at one time or another. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all you have to ask yourself what kind of comments you want
ReplyDeleteSecondly, you have to ask what are you doing to earn them?
And then you have to take into consideration:
a) 90% of blog readers are lurkers who never leave a comment, but still enjoy reading (and of the remaining 10%, not everyone comments on every post);
b)as the weather gets better and the evenings get lighter, more people are outside rather than on their computers;
c) and there is a natural cycle of blogger drop-offs - so unless you are constantly finding new connections, the number you have will steadily diminish over time (note - 23 of the bloggers you link to on your side bar haven't posted for more than 3 weeks).
But if you ever want to blether more indepth, then you have my email and we can always set up chat thing on Facebook :)
When you're done with Eileen's knickers, could you knit me some new mittens?
ReplyDeleteMap, my friend, if only we were at a table, two empties and a full in front of us! Then you would know how I admire you, how I read but don't always comment.
ReplyDeleteI've been feelig a bit down myself lately, wondering why I do it, and you know what I've discovered?
Nothing, really. I was hoping you'd know...
Pearl
p.s. And if you're knitting, I'll take an all-over body cozy. Winter's never far!
I feel your pain - I really do and have occasionally felt like flouncing out and sod the lot. But it's vital not to take it personally and there is always the unexpected comment which lifts your heart from your boots.
ReplyDeleteAny news of dear Jimmy BTW? I miss him.
Oh no you don't!
ReplyDeleteI've lost enough this week... I don't need to lose a playground to kick back and be silly on with my blog pals. You want me losing my mind to be on YOUR conscience? :)
Seriously, I'm hoping this is the end of the tough week and I can get back to playing more and being the adult in charge a little less.
Carry on. What color yarn do we need to send?
20 comments now. My kingdom for 20 comments. None of your guff!

ReplyDeleteKim; You are indeed a wise man, but I always knew that! And yes, we must chat on the FB thingy soon! :¬)
Kyknoord: Is it mittens you'll be after then, do you want the ones with the string that goes inside your sleeves and keeps each mitten dangling when not in use, 'cos it would only take me that little bit longer and you'll be sure not to lose one of them then! :¬)

Mapster, my man ... I know the feeling, I had a turn like that meself not long ago. But the main thing is, you must blog for YOURSELF, feck who's listening. Some of the best bloggers I know only get 1 or 2 comments per post. It's quality, not quantity, that counts. Now, all together now, " I AM WHAT I AM ...."
ReplyDeleteP.S. Who's Paul Brady? I thought he was the heart surgeon in Holby City who used to be in EastEnders.
Daphne W-B; Thanks for dropping by. You must be tired from all that globe-trotting?
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, I'm sober now and don't feel half as sorry for meself!
And Paul Brady? Only one of the best singer/songwriters this side of Pluto (the planet, not the dog!) Check him out. (I don't watch much telly and 'soaps' are not allowed when I'm in charge of the remote!) :¬)
xxx
I just had to come in at number 40...
ReplyDeleteLeah; What a triumph! :¬)
ReplyDeletexxx
All; I'm celebrating tonight with Jimmy's favourite imported beer, Sol! :¬)
