None of them were there. My Da, my sister, my aunties, uncles. Not one of my friends!
- It's great to go to a memorial stone. To remember.
- But, I don't need a stone to remind me of the ones I love, or have loved. I'll probably go back again, I don't know why, but I will. I like graveyards, history.
Of course they weren't there! Because they were with you... where they always are. In your heart. You don't need a cemetery... in that you are very right. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWhen I go to a cemetery, I try to find the oldest gravestone. Here in the U.S. it's not such a big deal. The oldest usually date back to the 1800's. The cemeteries out there must be fantastic.

ReplyDeleteAgreed...it's like a document of history in stone.
ReplyDeleteAnd as Pon says, the best memories live in your heart.
We often visited graveyards to pay homage to various writers, poets etc but it is all too raw just now.
ReplyDeleteI don't visit graveyards or cemeteries. My take is, as soon as a person is dead their soul leaves them and you are left with just a body. I even saw this when I watched one of my cats die. As soon as she was dead I didn't relate to her, she was just a cat, anyones cat, not my beloved cat. And what was even more interesting was her sister who had spent every day of her cat life cuddled up next to one another, sniffed that dead cat and walked away as if she'd never known her. Further proof to me that after death the soul leaves the body. Where it goes is what matters to me. :)
