(Pic; Diane Arbus) (I am not in this pic!)

It was cold today, and icy.
But I went on a journey.
With due care and attention to the conditions.
It was quite a long journey, and one I'd done many times before.

But today what I saw was not just a familiar place.
A very beautiful place.

No, today without realising it, I went to a Time!
And saw, in someone else, a reflection of myself.
From long ago.
I saw a person I had almost forgotten.
And it made me smile.
Was I really that shy skinny lad?

  1. isn't it a surprise, sugar, to come across you from so long ago and to realise, nothing ever really changes...

  4. Mean... moody... sober. That wee lassie has the look of love about her. Little did she know that beside her sat a future star of stage and screen.

Tiffin; As they say on all the best convenience food packs, "Picture for demonstration purposes only"! I found this 'out there'! It is a great pic though.
If only I had been that cool back then!

Pon; It was a long day, and I could have done without the snow, but it made a couple of youngsters happy for a few hours! And one oldie! :¬)

  9. I initially got the cheap visceral thrill that you had actually had your pic snapped by Diane Arbus! Glad you straightened that out.

  14. Hello!

    *Waves*

Obviously new to your blog, but if that's the sort of thing that you will be posting often, then I'm glad I stuck around. I really liked it.

Though the chap in the photo does seem to have a problem with his spuds being too big. He seems to be sitting rather gingerly.

(Please say that isn't you and that I have just really offended you on my first comment?)

  15. To answer your question, "Was I really that shy skinny lad?", I strongly suspect you were. And there was absolutely nothing wrong with it: the girls loved those of us who were shy and not spouting blarney.

    Dan; Welcome!

    *Waves back*

Thank you! That's not me, though I do remember having problems with the whole tight jeans/spuds/sitting positions back then! :¬)

Charlie; Yes I was that shy skinny lad, complete with the good looking mouthy buddy!
(Though we are still great pals all these years later!) :¬)

Kate; You are welcome hon! :¬)

Jimmy; As long as it's not the series of me naked on the sheepskin rug!

(I was young and trying to break into the business! Honest!)

  19. Ah, I've done that and it's so odd! Makes you want to step forward and warn them about what might be coming, so they'll dodge danger yet not overlook something that will one day be important. But you stand still, knowing they have to find out for themselves.

I belong in your Blush Court, you know. Still. Sigh.

NOTE TO PONITA: please make contact with Jimmy, as we need to build up Map's picture portfolio for our P.R. firm. ;)
